Ok, I'm about to begin my foray into the wide wide world of 64 bit computing...
http://www.censuspc.com/Merchant2/me...ry_Code=MOT002 That's the lowest priced non-Chaintech NF3 250 I could find... ...working AGP/PCI lock, right? I'm gonna couple this board with either a 2800 or 3000... $99 is a good price for this, no? ![]()

Yup, $99 for the mobo, ~$15 for a nice 80mm copper kingwin HSF, and ~$175 for a 2800 @ newegg...
So for $300 I should have a pretty decent *waitin for 939 prices to drop* rig... Should I expect a decent overclock? My geil golden dragon value supposedly does up to ~225 @ loose timings in some rigs... my PowerMagic PSU's have great rail strength, and my cooling setup is fairly efficient... What sort of mhz/ghz should I expect?

You might look into Neweggs referb mobo and A64. Just got a 3000+ retail referbed for $189 and there was a 2800+ retail referb for $170. For $80 I got a K8v Asus referb and both are working great. By doing this I saved about $60 to $70 bucks.

I will always echo good things about Newegg and their refurbs. They do an excellent job of testing the hardware before reselling and you can save some serious $$$

See, I want an NF2 250 tho... locked AGP/PCI... overclocking...
Or am I barking up a dead tree or something, stepping from a 1700 that did 2.2, and a pair of Bartons that did the same or more... Maybe the true overclocking joy will come from the 939's? ...I'm not seeing too many kick in the pants overclocks of 754 chips, then again I haven't looked that much... GAAAH!! ![]() This is hard! Seeing a refurb SiS 755 for like $45 kinda puts me at a crossroads... ... .. To overclock or not to overclock...

I thought that VIA had corrected the AGP/PIC lock now.

On the A64 platform, I'd only consider SiS or ALi chipset solutions.
