Default PPC Nvidia driver?

Hey guys, I have a Apple Powerbook with a nvidia 5200 in it, I am also running PPC linux, I am forced to use the nv driver which is horrible, Do you guys think Nvidia would release a PPC driver for all of us ppc linux users?

I can bet that there are more PPC linux users than Athlon 64 bit users.

THanks!

This has been discussed dozens of times before but unfortunately Nvidia isn't interested in ppc linux, so there won't come drivers.

And based on the shallow response levels to the threads about them.. I understand that. This one, and this in particular...

The driver would be nice, especially since those G5 machines would rock along on a tuned up Linux. *sigh*

May I suggest a different approach?

Ask Apple.

Since OSX is basically Xfree4.3 on top of BSD, they may already have a project for adapting their NV driver to linux. Heck, you may even be able to wrap their existing driver to work with XFree on linux if you come up with a creative kernel interface. Apple is a hardware company and will do what it sees fit to sell the most hardware. Perhaps we're applying the pressure in the wrong place, and by petitioning apple, we can get somewhere.

Thoughts?

Thank you for your time,
Frank Russo
