Default 1.0-6106 linux freeze 99% cpu

The 1.0-6106 driver still has the 99% CPU freeze problem.
Symptom: after a few hours, maybe a day or two, X "freezes" permanently: the mouse still moves, windows become unresponsive, the machine responds to ping, a ssh to the machine shows X running at 99% CPU.

Solution: kill X as root, revert to older driver.
Result: loss of any open work at the time of the X-freeze.

This bug has affected nvidia drivers for several years. Due to this bug, I still have to use the 1.0-4365 driver (the last "Quadro_Certified" driver"). If NVIDIA cares about its workstation-grade video board users that run Linux, please post a solution. (If a solution is known, please re-post it--thanks.)

This sounds exactly like the problem I described here: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=31858

Unfortunately, I don't know of a solution.

I'm getting a new board. I'm sorry; this has been a problem for over a year and NVIDIA still hasn't fixed it.
