I have an EPoX 8RGMI, the only nForce microATX motherboard I know that has DUAL vga output. The motherboard comes with a Windows driver which I have not tested.
The nForce driver loads under SuSE 9.0, and SuSE 9.1 correctly loads the right driver automatically. However, SuSE's Sax2 configuration utility can see only one vga output in each case. Apart from that the board works perfectly. Has anyone got this board working in dual head mode under linux? ![]() |

gtoomey,
Nice board you got there. I dont have it but I think you need to enable dual X servers on your board with xorg(or the Xfree86 equivalent). So in the xfree86.conf or xorg.conf file you need to setup an extra X server for the second display. Do this in one of the xterms as root: bash-2.05b# lspci | grep -i vga You should see something like this: (note though I have a nvidia Geforce4200 card which is different from yours. So you should see something like Nforce............... I guess) 0000:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV25 [GeForce4 Ti 4200] (rev a3) Try it also with out the Grep part. So just the lspci part. (lspci). See how many VGA it founds. Then go to the xorg.conf file and do the necessary editting. In order to know what and how to edit make sure you at least read section R from the Nvidia manual which explaings everything very good. This Readme should be located somewhere in : /usr/share/doc/nvidia-glx-1.0.6106-r3/README.gz Last but not least I JUST setup almost the same setup like your although I only have 1 video card. You should be able to figure it out though, here is the link to my thread: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=33550 Good luck. Xerxes |
