OK, read the post about reporting problems and starting new threads, so here we go...
Upon switching to driver 6106, My laptop display is corrupted at 1600x1200 reolution. Driver 5336 displays fine at 1600x1200. 6106 displays fine at lower resolutions. Attached are my XF86Config-4, Xfree86.0.log, and an image of what the problem looks like, from my digital camera. Note that the dots of color are not there in the display, they are just caused by the canera I'm using. The white bands and duplicated screen are there though. I am also currently considering that this could be a general problem with Toshiba laptops and GeForce Go cards, I've heard reports of similair problems in this thread, as well as in #nvidia on freenode, from my logs, potentially related: Jul 26 05:07:52 <hooya> hi folks. i'm running into a problem where EDID sets the wrong info. and if i turn "IgnoreEDID" on, i get a screen with vert size about half of what it should be and it's repeated twice with a white band across to middle. i have a "GeForce4 420 Go" in a toshiba laptop. any ideas? Jul 25 08:03:49 <loz> anyone here having problems with the new NVIDIA driver? I see a corrupt screen, (repeated twice, the top half the screen on the bottom all squashed and buggy) This is annoying to me as I would like ot be able to use my dfp at the native resolution of 1600x1200. Any ideas would be appreciated. EDIT - Whoops, attached the files form my desktop and not my laptop. Sorry, attached are the correct ones. Last edited by imperitoo; 07-31-04 at 02:23 AM. Reason: Attached wrong files. |

Also, a little problem I'm having, a program is complinaing about not having GL_ARB_shadow, and its not in glxinfo either. Is this just something that isn't on the 420 Go, or is there some way to enable it?

After scanning all the posts, looks like there are 5 of us. I have a Toshiba 6100 with the Geforce420 Go vid card and my screen looks exactly like yours. The last 5.x driver works fine. My XF86Config-4 file is also identical. I hope they get this fixed, the new driver made a big difference on my linux powered desktop.

If I could flag a moderator, this thread and 32997 are the same issue, they might ought to be merged or something, I don't know what the policy is.

I'm pretty sure it has to do with your HorizSync and VertRefresh settings. LCD's use discrete values, like 93.8, 87.5, 81.2. You have given a range of values that include settings in between, like on a CRT.
try Section "Monitor" Identifier "LCD" ModelName "1600x1200" VendorName "Toshiba" Option "DPMS" "true" HorizSync "81.2, 87.5, 93.8" VertRefresh "65, 70, 75" EndSection I got these settings out of your log file, so you might want to double check before using. These are all taken out of the validated mode list starting on line 460. Check against your owners manual! Good luck! |
