(unfortunately) Happy to hear that someone with very similar hardware is having the same problem. ONce my friend gets his card in, we'll get his system going and then swap my card in for his (another co-worker has an identicle box and it's working fine for him under Suse, but it's the 5700 Ultra I think.

I've filed a bug report with nvidia, have you done the same? Maybe if we get enough people sending in reports we can get some attention and get some action.

Try commenting out the { Load "dbe" }.

I tried commenting out load dbe..same hard-lock. ....but.....YES....I stuck a 5200 card in, edited X config file for new boardname 0x0322 and bam! X is up and running! No hard-locks!!!

I remember not to long ago X having issues with the 5700 chipset. Maybe this code still needs some tweaks...

drumz: Is your 5700 card made by eVGA? Just asking becuase mine is...needless to say I wouldn't recommend anyone buying a 5700 card until this little bug is fixed (It could only be manifesting itself within our hardware config becuase they are essentially the same....)
