drivers newer than 5328 change external DFP horizontal resolution with TWINVIEW

Hello,

I have a DELL laptop Precision M60 which has a Quadro FX Go700. I
used it with external monitors through Dell's Advanced Port
Replicator (APR) that offers VGA and DVI-D ports. I have been using
the nvidia driver 5328 with Redhat Linux 9, Kernel 2.4.20 for Twinview.
It worked fine.

However, all later drivers including 6111 give me a dangerous problem.
When the external DFP used as a single monitor, it worked fine. The
resolution displayed after pushing the DFP panel button shows
1600x1200@60Hz. However, when used in Twinview or two X-screens with
gnome-wm, the DFP's resolution displayed on the DFP panel IS WRONGLY SET
to 1602x1200@60Hz and this makes the DFP display waving, wiggling, and
flicking so bad that I could read anything on it. If I grab the images on it
and display it on the CRT-0, it is fine. Therefore, data transmission is
fine but the nvidia set the wrong h-resolution. But the log report shows
no such thing like 1602 horizontal resolution. If I change the resolution to
1024x768 then the DFP is then set to 1026x768!!! Surely I got
bad DFP displays. If I use CRT and laptop's LCD (DFP-0), there is
no problem. The problem happens only when it's used in TWINVIEW on
two external monitors (DFP-1, CRT-0).

This happens with the Fedora Core 2 with the new Linux Kernel 2.6
(please see the attached log file).

I believe this problem originated from the nvidia driver changes after
5328. I sent the report log and this problem to linux-bugs@nvidia.com two
days ago and so far I haven't heard anything yet.

Right now, I dare not to use the DFP-1 with TWINVIEW and stick with
one monitor. Dell's DFP got maximum resolution 1600x1200. I am afraid
that nvidia's driver forced the resolution to 1602x1200 could do
some harm to the monitor.

I won't fall back to kernel 2.4 if this problem can be solved.
I would like to use the 2.6 kernel to ge rid of the IEEE1394 external hard
drive problem and use the ACPI and APGGART power management utilities.
This new stupid M60 does not have the APM in the BIOS.

For short, it seems that nvidia new drivers after 5328 add 2 to the
horizontal resolution when rendering. How and why that happens and
how to fix it?
