Just upgraded my kernel from a custom mandrake kernel 2.6.3-7 (default MDK 10.0) to the latest, 2.6.8.1 ... In general, I'd like to hear from users who've made a similar upgrade and know pros/cons, what's improved, etc. In particular, I was trying to circumvent some of the stability problems I've been having and was hoping that upgrading to the newest kernel would do the trick (I hope)...
thanks ![]()

Well, so far so good... The stability problems seem to have went away. Running NvAGP = 1 and so far so good. Before I wouldn't last for more than 30min - 1hr doing anything more than surfing the web before a lockup, sometimes I'd boot repeatedly with lockups. After putting in the 2.6.8.1 kernel I'm able to play ut2004 and americas army for hours. Before I was lucky to get past a load screen. Yay!
