Default System lockup switching between two X servers running on two VC's

Well, I thought I had solved my problem of wanting to be able to use all three outputs on my FX5900.

I run two X servers. The first one, on VC7, drives my flat panel display via DVI, and also the S-video out, so I can watch movies full screen on the tv by using

mplayer -fs -display :0.1 filename...

This works great.

The second X server on VC8 drives the CRT connected via the 15 pin VGA port. This also works great for playing games, since the entire video card is devoted to the game. Great framerates on Doom3/Cedega, Quake3, etc.

The problem lies as follows: I can normally switch between them just fine (ctrl-alt-F7 and F8), even while a game is running on VC8! But once in a while, maybe 1/10th of the time, attemping to switch locks the machine solid.

It'll even lock up if I switch while doing nothing else. I can tell it's a system lockup and not an X server lockup because I can't log into the system remotely.

Has anyone else experienced such lockups when switching between X servers on multiple VC's? I run FC2, kernel 2.6.8.1, Nvidia driver version 6111.
