Default Main memory allocation for video, how much?

Hi all,
I was reading the output from dmesg and it says that 439Megs of ram can be used for video, here's that part of dmesg:

agpgart: Maximum main memory to use for agp memory: 439M
agpgart: AGP aperture is 128M @ 0xd0000000

Isn't that an unusually large amount of main memory to allocate for video? My video card is a 128Meg Ti4600. The kernel is 2.6.8-1.521on FC2 with 512Megs of ram. If it needs to be adjusted down how do I do it?

It says that in total it could reserve 439MB for AGP but that it uses only 128MB of it (you can set this amount in the bios). Note that this doesn't mean that it allways uses this memory for AGP. It only does that when it is needed, so when it is not needed other apps can just use it.

I'm not sure to understand your problem.
Do you think that 439MB are always allocated for video memory, so that other apps can't use this memory ?
Or do you think it's useless to allocate 439MB of video memory since you graphics card "only" has 128MB on-board ?

@vincoof
the dmesg output says nothing about onboard video ram.
Like Thunderbird wrote: it tells the user, that it could use up to 493mb of the ram for agp aperture, and that it is set to 128mb.
And if you google for some bios-information, you'll find, that this is a reasonable setting and no need to change it or to worry about.

EDT: the aperture size is completly independent from the video-ram size. The only rule is: the bigger the video ram the smaller the needed aperture size. 128mb is pretty much 'standard', 64mb is also common. Don't worry about it. Everything is fine. Really

OK, thanks for the replies. Evidently this is normal and I won't worry about it. Anyway I'd rather it allocate to much ram than not enough.
