So if my computer can run Doom 3 in UltraMode, is it safe to say it'll eat HL2 for breakfast? I don't wanna go to city 17 unprepared for anything less than fullout graphics and glass smooth frames and at least 12X1024. That's what I spent the money for. HL2 perfection....

I had to laugh at this sentence:

We don't really need to mention anti-virus and firewall software as you should be running that already.
Unless, of course, your name is Gabe Newell. Then you don't have to worry about firewalls - who's going to guess a password like "gaben" after all?

That guide only reduces quality down to crap so it speeds up...thats not optimisation..thats how to downgrade, if its optimisation will be looking at the same quality with more speed, with tweaks to help the game run faster. ie Nvidia AA/AF Optimisations.
