I have a new Compaq Presario R3000Z notebook with a wide screen 1280x800 display driven by a GEForce4 420 Go 32M video card:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV17 [GeForce4 420 Go 32M] (rev a3) The OS is Fedora Core 3 Test 3 but I have a friend with an identical notebook and he's running FC2 with the same problems. We're both using 1.0-6111 driver. My http://www.gagme.com/greg/linux/xorg.conf.r3000z does seem to work at least at first. However when the screen comes back after screensaver blanking the display is all corrupted with vertical gray bars. If I hit CTRL-ALT-F1 then ALT-F7 the display comes back. If I disable display power management that problem does not occur. However what's worse is when I log out then log back in the laptop locks up hard. Both of these problems are very repeatable. Please help! |
