I would *think* thats its better to patch the driver, rather than the kernel, no? Not a expert in this....

The modified installation tar here
http://ngc891.blogdns.net/index.php?...nvidia-drivers fixed the problem for me on two Debian/Sid/i386 machines, one a dual Xeon. Thanks for this patch ! If we had to wait as long as we did last time for nvidia to update their "official" driver, we would be waiting a long time to use the new 2.6.9 kernel. working great here...

Here is a new one with patch-2.6.8-bk4, nvidia: Unknown symbol pci_find_class, is produce as an error while compiling the video driver now.

Well, that driver patch from the blog works fine for me on Debian unstable, kernel 2.6.9-final. Just letting you all know how it went.
