Unhappy nforce on mandrake10.1 arts error

Hi
i installed the newest nforce drivers on my machine and configred modprobe.conf.

but starting kde i get this error message:

Sound server fatal error:
AudioSubSystem::handleIO: write failed
len = -1, can_write = 4096, errno = 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable)
This might be a sound hardware/driver specific problem (see aRts FAQ)

if i switch to open thread sound system i dont get this error, but i still dont hear anything and xmms doesnt start playing my audio files.

does anybody know what to do?

thx
stefan

I get the same error, and I haven't been able to set up my Nvidia Sound on Mandrake 10.1 KDE or GNOME using this NForce drivers. Therefore, in order to hear any sound, I need to reset the Mandrake 10.1 drivers with the ones that it's installed by default.

Nvidia Linus drivers are not fully tested under this new Mandrake release, I guess...

Hoping to see any guy who had already tweaking this drivers under Linux posting here in order to enjoy a better sound quality...

Regards

Hey Good News dudes!

I noticed that Nvidia had released a new NForce drivers and believe or not, they work!

http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_nforce_1.0-0292.html

So far, I installed the NForce drivers and reinstalled it upon the old drivers, and the installation program uninstalled the old ones and reinstall this new version (0.292). I rebooted. I logged on into KDE and I noticed that sound control panel recognized the new drivers, but amaroK - the audio player for KDE, crashed with an ARTs error. Tested XMMS and it played an MP3 file perfectly!

At this point, I haven't been able to hear any sound coming from the WOOFER and Center Channel in spite of using NV Mixer utility (nvmixer). The speaker wizard is grayed out so I can't use this wizard to set up my 5.1 sound system.

Perhaps, it need some further tweaks for making this drivers fully work...

Keep up the good job, Nvidia Staff...

Any suggestions are welcome!
