Wowie...been playing the game pretty much all day to unlock more costumes for when I take my 'box to a friend's place this coming weekend. I was unaware until a few hours ago that there are only so many outfits you can unlock playing on normal difficulty. The main ladies have a few you have to unlock on hard. For the story mode, hard isn't that much more tough than normal...either that or I'm just getting a lot better.

I was able to unlock this gem for my favorite little girl.

I've become pretty good at playing her as well. My best time attack score is 5:39 with her, which as of about 10 p.m. CST was good enough for 232nd place among the worldwide online players. Considering I only play fighting games very sporadically, I thought that was pretty impressive.

Bad girl...bad girl indeed. If I was fighting against that, I wouldn't mind getting beat up. Thank god for DOA, now we can have both softcore porn AND a decent game all in one

Good thing Tecmo doesn't reveal her (or Kasumi's) actual age, else there'd be no way this or any DOA game would get released here.

Any of Ayane's costumes from the first game make an appearance? And what about Ayane's dad? Raidou was just a bad mofo..

When I played the remake of the Saturn game, the final guy I fought was Raidou. I could have sworn I read that Ayane was supposed to be the final battle. I'm not entirely certain of the story from the first game in the grand continuum of things. Can someone clue me in here?

Raidou is a bad mofo, and one ugly sumb***h too. I can understand from where Ayane gets her sunny disposition (that was sarcasm btw).

IIRC Ayane first appeared in the PSX version of DOA, she was a "secret" boss before Raidou..

Oh stop it, you're getting me excited

But from what I remember the "guy with the strange glowing eyes" was the final boss in DOA (presumably they were talking about Raidou). Would make sense if Ayane was a secret last/second last boss though, or maybe she's just the last boss for a certain character.

You must wonder...does Team Ninja have a full story for the DOA/Ninja Gaiden games when they first make them, or do they just put characters in a bunch of wierd situations and then come up with some kind of a story later on? I'm still waiting to hear what "Project Epsilon" or whatever is, not to mention about 90% of the characters' backgrounds have about as much depth as a toddler's swimming pool. But, I guess fighting games aren't exactly known for their stories

Glad to hear that you enjoy the game, Sat. Just one question (from one who admitedly doesn't play many fighters): is Jann Lee just the n00b player's character, the one they start on because he's easy and then move on to better things? Lots of people I know started playing Tekken 3 using the Bruce Lee knockoff and then moved on to more complex characters - they could beat maybe 3-4 matches but then get smacked down on 5 or 6.

I think the latter is probably true, at least for DOA. They probably wanted to create a variety of different characters with a variety of different fighting styles then they probably just mixed and matched them. Here's my impression of a think tank session at TN:

- OK, we've got these two incredibly hot ninja girls named Ayane and Kasumi. What should we do with 'em?

- Hmm...I know! Let's make them half sisters who completely hate each other. That way we can create division among the rabid bunches of fanboys who will swear allegance to one or the other!

- Brilliant! Now we've got a couple ninja dudes, how 'bout we make them friends but give one of 'em amnesia so he don't remember jack.

- Outstanding!

And you can probably imagine the rest.

I'm quite certain a lot of folks do it this way, and I don't begrudge them for doing so. After all, everyone has to get their feet wet somehow. Personally, I prefer to pick out a character that suits my personality and style of play. Taking her smashing good looks out of the equation, Ayane is a damn good fighter with great throws and powerful counters and combos. Plus she's extremely light on her feet.

I finished up unlocking costumes for her tonight. Her 20th outfit is extremely weird, I wish I could take a screenie of it.
