NFSU2 playing well now. Only time it locks up is at menu after a race sometimes. This may be because of demo itself, or my overclocks. Not sure which.

The more I play this game, the more I like it I mostly play FPS'ers, and the NFS series is a nice distraction when I just want to goof around and have FUN

The Yahoo! Gamesdomain "exclusive trailer" says it's november 10th, gamespot lists it as 15...either way it's soon

Bleech.

This thing is slow... Now, don't get me wrong, it's really nice and all, but wtf!?!?!?

NFS:U plays w/out problems on my box at 1024x768 2x AA 4x AF, all gfx maxed.
NFS:U2 (demo) is a slideshow at 1024x768 no AA no AF, gfx slider one notch below the max. Bah.

This game looks great in stereo 3-D but I am not much of a racing game fan really.

Lightman, it was for me too, but are lots of video settings you need to tweak. One notch below max detail still has highest AA/AF settings. Disabling those in advance video settings helps A TON. Also might want to turn off Extreme Contrast and a few other things.

With AA completely off I see no image quality difference and it runs great. Play with the settings to see what works best and looks best for you. Good luck

Sorry got names mixed

What your PC spec?

It ran very much better and faster than NFS:U on my AthlonXP 1800+ system. Look like you got much slower CPU.

Ok, (almost) my fault.

It looks like the fscking advanced settings button doesn't always respond to the mouse click. What happened the first time I tried it is that after clicking on it nothing happened, so I guessed it was disabled in the demo.

Yesterday I tried manually setting the gfx config, I disabled Extreme Contrast (or whatever it's called) and performance skyrocketed. I can play in 1024x728 with AA set to one notch below the max level (I guess it's 4xAA, will further investigate by forcing AA from the CP instead that in-game) smoothly.

Cool.

Answering AthlonXP1800 question, I have a P4 2.6C @2.74GHz (waiting for that damned Zalman to arrive), 1 GB of Corsair TwinX PC3200, W2K SP4, and a Gainward GF FX5700, 128MB.
The only bottleneck *could* be the 5700, but at 1024x768 it shouldn't pose much problems...
