GPU Temperature montioring outside of nidia-settings?

Does anyone know how to read the GPU temperature settings from outside of the nivida-settings panel?

I'd like to have a Gkrellm monitor for the GPU - which kindof implies not running nvsettings.

One exists somewhere but I havent been able to track down the sourcecode for it....
It needs work, like configurable settings would be nice, but all I was given was a unconfigurable bin.

Some time ago I made a gkrellm plugin for my own tool (nvclock) and I plan to release this stuff soon...
