Default suse 9.1 and fx5200 driver

at first I would like to introduce myself.I'm italian livin' in germany and fortunatelly I can a little english.I'm quite new in the linux world and I would like to learn, hope someone would like to teach me...
I got an amd 3000 machine whith geforce fx 5200.well during a programm installation I got a warning about a "libgd.so.2 missing" and related conflict.I did a search on rpmseek.com and now i think that my problem is the nvidia driver.well I have tried but I wasn't able to install the new driver.I use a distro suse 9.1.can anybody help?
like I said before I'm very new so please try to be easy with tips or explanations.thanks
