I am analyzing CPU usage for our project and have noticed something dramatic that I'd like explained if possible. If I call glxWaitGL after drawing a frame, CPU usage for my OpenGL Video Engine jumps from a steady .1% - .7% to something in the neighborhood of 40%-50%. Although the results onscreen are identical in appearance, smooth animation, etc. Note that I am forced to utilize glxWaitGL or the system will lock as soon as you try to move a window or click somewhere.
Can anyone explain why the CPU usage jumps so dramatically? |
