driver "nv" versus driver "nvidia" v. 1.0-6629 - Page 2

Okay, I uninstalled xserver-xfree86-dbg and reconfigured xserver-xfree86 just to ensure it is using what it should be.

When I tried to run kdm to see the log, I get nothing but what I had earlier. I even deleted the log to make sure it wasn't just recreating the same log. I am trying to find a way to run X remotely but so far I have had no such luck.

I use KDE as I am not fond of GNOME. I just told my pc to reboot in hopes it will start X automatically which is what it is set to do and that should give me a new log.

It seems that when I made those changes, my pc either never booted back up or froze and thus I can't ssh in, so I will give it a look over when I get back to Ohio. Thanks for the help.

Okay, I still cannot get twinview to work. Here is my latest XF86Config-4 and XFree86.0.log. To simply put it when this XF86Config-4 is used I am able to see KDE on my first monitor but my second monitor is inresponsive.

This is so weird.

Okay, I solved my issue. The "nvidia" module was not loading on startup, so I added it to /etc/modules/ and then changed my XF86Config-4 driver "nv" to driver "nvidia" and behold it works!

YAY!

I want to thank everyone who tried to help me and this forum for helping me find the answers I was seeking. Its nice to know there is this kind of support behind such great products.

Lol, that was it?

A tip about modules in debian. Use/install the "modconf" package, it's an ncurses frontend for loading/unloading modules. Not only is it nice for getting an overview of which packages to load, but it will ensure that the module gets loaded at every boot.
