This could apply to you: somehow a /usr/X11/lib64 directory has been created when it should be a link to just /usr/X11/lib. Having the 64 bit X libs spread over two directories caused me problems... probably happened by using the nvidia installer instead of gentoo's own.

I moved files around which solved the problem although I was unsure it would work (remember backups).

Whig,

i uninstall nvidia driver, and install nvidia-kernel from Gentoo, but 3d is not working:

Quote:
bash-2.05b$ glxinfo | grep direct
direct rendering: No
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect

Marlon

Uninstalling the nvidia driver may not be enough - check for multiple X lib directories as mentioned above. Now I see you have mesa glx and not nvidia glx. nvidia-glx is the package for that. See http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/nvidia-guide.xml

The directorys are ok:

Quote:
arwen root # ls -ld /usr/X11R6/lib64
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 Dec 17 17:07 /usr/X11R6/lib64 -> lib
And nvidia-glx is already emerged:

Quote:
arwen root # find / -name "nvidia-glx" -print
/usr/portage/media-video/nvidia-glx

Marlon

this issue was solved with the Azcode tip:
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=271358

Just create a symbolic link to libglx.so

Quote:
ln -s /usr/lib/opengl/nvidia/extensions/libglx.so /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.so
thanks to whig for the directions.
