I get occasional flicker and dvd playback problems with the 6111 drivers under Fedora Core 2.
I've created a Modeline as follows: Modeline "1440x900" 106.47 1440 1520 1672 1904 900 901 904 932 -HSync +Vsync I've tried changing the cursor to software. I can get 1440x900 resolution (native for my screen) with the Nvidia drivers (6111), but the flicker has not gone away. DVD playback works until the first flicker, then video disappears after that although audio continues. I've also tried the ignore edid option. When I use it, I get a virtual resolution of 1440x1024- I find that exceedingly strange. I'm using Fedora Core 2 on an HP zd7230us Pavilion notebook, Nvidia Geforce Go 5700 w/ 64M ram. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. |

I have the problem on my zd7000 also. I tried all the ideas found here and elsewhere, none worked. Finally I saw a suggestion to enter a screen geometry that was less that 1024x768,
then return to 1440x900 (ie, CNTL-ALT-KP_Subtract, CNTL-ALT-KP_Add). Added a 800x600 modeline, the tried the size flip-flop, and it WORKED! So now I automate it with .xinitrc: # go lores then back for flicker-free display: xvkbd -text "\C\A\[KP_Subtract]\C\A\[KP_Add]" I also am running @ 1680x1050 with this XF86Config: HorizSync 30-90 VertRefresh 50-100 ModeLine "1440x900" 97.54 1440 1472 1840 1872 900 919 927 946 Modeline "1680x1050" 147.14 1680 1784 1968 2256 1050 1051 1054 1087 SubSection "Display" Depth 24 Modes "1680x1050" "1440x900" "800x600" |

> Which version have you tried with? 66.29 fixed it for me.
6113, which is the latest available for FreeBSD. Expanding on info, what didn't work for me: Option "IgnoreEDID" "true" Option "SWcursor" "true" # [<bool>] Option "HWcursor" "false" # [<bool>] Option "NoLogo" "true" Option "NvAGP" "2" ModeLine "1440x900" 106.47 1440 1520 1672 1904 900 901 904 932 -Hsync +Vsync Modeline "1440x900" 108.84 1440 1472 1880 1912 900 918 927 946 (or any other modeline I tried) |
