Default NVidia reinstalled after every reboot

Happy new year everyone.

I've searched this forum already for this problem and come up with:

http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/show...install+reboot

However, the method of install in this thread is slightly different from my install method, and I already have nvidia in /etc/modules.

Running Debian unstable with kernel 2.6.9 and the Nvidia 6111 jp patched driver (this gets around the problem with vmalloc).

Before my 2.6.9 kernel, I used to compile the nvidia module alongside my kernel (with make-kpkg). However, since I've had to use the patched version, I've switched over to using the nvidia install program again.

The problem is that after rebooting, I need to reinstall the driver each time. Is there any way in which I can get around this reinstall each time?

TIA
Adam

and with modprobe nvidia, may be no need to reinstall drivers each time u reboot

I put nvidia in /etc/modprobe.preload and /etc/ modules

and alias char-major-195* nvidia in modprobe.conf

Happy New Year

PS: mandrake 10.1

Do you have the nvidia-glx package installed? The package is only for using the debian packaged nvidia driver and will relink the wrong files if you are using a manually installed nvidia driver.
