I upgraded to the 2.6.10-ck1 sources the other night and everything seems to work fine but then I went to play Doom3. All I saw was a black screen and I could not get into another console. I rebooted and then tried HL2 via cedega-4.2, the same thing happened as soon as I tried to run steam. I then rebooted agien and tried q3a and et. Q3A ran fine but ET seems to stall alot. I do have a patched nvidia-kernel for the 2.6.10 kernel. I am running AMD64 gentoo Linux running a nvidia fx 5900 ultra card. Both these games run fine in 2.6.9. I have attached the nvidia-bug-report incase someone wants to look at it.
After looking though my kernel logs I find a few interesting things Code:
Doom3 Crash
Dec 29 05:34:34 [kernel] ioctl32(doom.x86:7220): Unknown cmd fd(16) cmd(c0384642){00} arg(ffffc67c) on /dev/nvidiactl
Steam Crash
Dec 29 17:15:36 [kernel] ioctl32(wine:8546): Unknown cmd fd(84) cmd(40044149){00} arg(628ee848) on /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p
ET Stall
Dec 29 03:08:00 [kernel] ioctl32(et.x86:7052): Unknown cmd fd(276) cmd(c0384642){00} arg(ffff1004) on /dev/nvidiactl

In which order? Do I have to apply all these patches?

Gentoo automatically patches the nvidia-kernel with all of those patches. nvidia-glx is NOT patched with anything.

@nukem: do you have a log of the kernel Oops? Or are you referring to the ioctl32 error messages? If so, the first and last occur due to a known bug in the NVIDIA driver, the second looks like a problem with your sound driver.

Those are the parts of the log file were the kernel crashes. The rest of the log file seems fine. I can post it if you want. Do you think I should mail the bug to nvidia?
Thanks nuke |

It's a known bug, but unlikely to be related to the crash/stutter issues you're seeing. You seem to have forced on AGP fast writes, do your problems go away if you leave them disabled?

I disabled fast writes and the problem remain. My mobo and according to cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/card my card supports AGP fast write.
