Default Geforce FX 5650 for linux

To begin I am not to linux friendly, yet. I have a Dell Latitude D800 with a Geforce FX 5650. I am trying to control it through a KVM and I can get control, the mouse moves and all, but I do not see anything on the KVM control monitor. So I figured that the first thing I would try is to load the Nvidia Driver. So when I ran the file, from the Nvidia site, and I got "verifying archive integrity...Error in check summs 1206848449 1273659621." Any ideas, links, forums, anything

The package wasn't downloaded correctly, try downloading it again.
