Question drivers appear that they should be working, but they aren't isn't..

Hello, For some reason I can't get the nvidia drivers to work.
I spent a while looking on these forums and the gentoo ones and no luck...

everything looks good from what i can tell. i can load the nvidia module but i get no splash screen and no gl, oh yeah and and x11 is only in 8 bit colour i think
glxinfo also says it can't display in RGB mode
heres my Xorg.0.log, lsmod, dmesg, and xorg.conf

thanks you all!

Code:
Section "Screen"
Identifier "Screen0"
Device "Card0"
Monitor "Monitor0"
SubSection "Display"
Viewport 0 0
Depth 1
EndSubSection
You have setup your X to use 8 colors. Change the value to 24 to use 32-bit.
And btw. you DO know that you can just attach files, right?

Question Re: drivers appear that they should be working, but they aren't isn't..

Any luck with this yet, I am having the same RGB complaints.
I remember back in my Mandrake days I had to add something like no-acpi to lilo to get my geforce2 to work. I dont know how to parse this to grub though.

Any thoughts?

for grub's configurations look in: /boot/grub/menu.lst

Now search the name/version of you kernel you're using...
and just add at the end of the "kernel" your noacpi...

please also look into "man grub" | "info grub" or in /usr/share/doc/grub/

I actually got it working, I was feeling hopeless after reading all the trouble with the Nvidia drivers and Gentoo.

Heres what I did to resolve it:
logged in as my user
su
env-update
source /etc/profile

ran
Xorg --configure
this used to fail for me but I never had the nvidia driver loaded and modprobed first before running.
Made the changes nvidia required changes one line at a time.
I was commenting the
Driver=vga line thinking it was loading that but as it turns out, I left it in this time and bingo a nice Nvidia splash and accelerated graphics.
