Unhappy 1.0-5336 on Mdk-10.1 does not install !!

I am not sure whether this problem is resolved on the forum - "search" did not give me any appropriate posts.

OK , here is my problem :

Failed to run the nvidia 6229 and 6111 sets on fx5700, being a victim of "X frozen but cursor moves" bug. Thus, I decided to try out the 5336 drivers . But the while running the .run file the system just hung up. Initially I used the vanilla .run file downloaded from nvidia.

System hangs, keyboard freezes - system needs hard reboot by power shutdown ......

The nvidia-installer log is rather brief:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
nvidia-installer log file '/var/log/nvidia-installer.log'
creation time: Thu Jan 6 22:01:52 2005

option status:
license pre-accepted : false
update : false
force update : false

uninstall : false

no precompiled interface: false
no ncurses color : false

Installer install prefix: /usr

kernel install path : (not specified)
proc mount point : /proc

tmpdir : /root/tmp
ftp site : ftp://download.nvidia.com

Using: nvidia-installer ncurses user interface
-> License accepted.
-> No precompiled kernel interface was found to match your kernel; would you li
ke the installer to attempt to download a kernel interface for your kernel f
rom the NVIDIA ftp site (ftp://download.nvidia.com)? (Answer: No)
-> No precompiled kernel interface was found to match your kernel; this means
that the installer will need to compile a new kernel interface.
-> Kernel source path: '/lib/modules/2.6.8.1-12mdk/build'
-> Performing cc_version_check with CC="cc".
-> Cleaning kernel module build directory.
executing: 'cd ./usr/src/nv; make clean'...
rm -f -f nv.o os-agp.o os-interface.o os-registry.o nv.o os-agp.o os-interfa
ce.o os-registry.o nvidia.mod.o
rm -f -f build-in.o nv-linux.o *.d .*.{cmd,flags}
rm -f -f nvidia.{o,ko,mod.{o,c}} nv_compiler.h *~
-> Building kernel module:
executing: 'cd ./usr/src/nv; make module SYSSRC=/lib/modules/2.6.8.1-12mdk/b
uild'...
--------------------------------------------

Then tried the "--add-this-kernel" flag to create the custom package - which is created successfully. Installation of the newly created cutom.run file lead to system hang - just like the previous case , but the log file is shorter:

--nvidia-installer log file '/var/log/nvidia-installer.log'
creation time: Thu Jan 6 22:11:21 2005

Using: nvidia-installer ncurses user interface

-----------------------------------------------

Any ideas, anyone ? I do not know whether 5336 will save me from the "X frozen curson moves " bug but this problem is weird.

Can anyone shade light on this ? BTW, when are we going to get a fix on the "X frozen curson moves " bug? I am getting sick of this.
