I just together a system using a Chaintech 939 mobo with an nForce4 chipset with a Athlon 64 3000+.
I have a PCIe video card, 160G SATA II hard drive with NCQ, 2x512Meg DDR and an LG Super-Multi drive. I am trying to install SuSE Pro v9.2 and it hangs trying to "Initialize Hardware". I've waited about 10-15 minutes and still nothing. Has anyone gotten SuSE 9.2 to install on an nForce4 chipset board? I've been successful in install WinXP Pro 64bit, but who wants that? Thanks, Mitch |

I had the same problem using a GeForce6600 GT PCIe on a ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe Motherboard. The problem is, SuSE can't initialise graphic mode. To get through the installation, do the following:
1) Install SuSE in Textmode 2) Do NOT try to setup X11 during installation. 3) Follow the steps you will find here: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=43838 Best of luck! Hugo |

I tried to start in text mode. It seems to hang a while with the last two messages stating:
Loading data into RAM disk (size here) ......... creating device nodes.. After 20-25 min, it finally continues to the next screen which is prompting for what language to use. At this point, the mouse and keyboard are dead. ![]() NOTE: After the original posting of this thread, I let the GUI install 'hang' for 20-25 min and it continued to the screen which is prompting for what language to use. At this point, the mouse and keyboard are also dead. Do you have any other options I can try? I also tried Fedora Core 3 before posting this and it has the same problem. On the very first text screen, it hangs. Thanks, Mitch |

If it matters, I have the ATI X600 All-In-Wonder PCIe video card. Could I be running into ATI/nVidia conflicts?
