Hey all,
I'm building a budget system for my sister and I've been debating whether to go with socket 754 or 939. I'm trying to keep the system under $600. Anyway, while on newegg.com I came across the ASROCK Combo mobo and I'm wondering if anyone has purchased one or knows of any quality websites that reviewed one. I'm not finding any reviews on my usual sights.

Well, Socket 754 is going to be AMD's budget 64-bit line, so there should be no concerns with going for it. Of course Socket 939 is going to be optimal, but your budget probably won't allow for it. ASROCK is Asus's low end, no frills line, so you shouldn't have to worry about quality.

What I like about the board is that it gives her the option to upgrade to the 939 in the future. What I'm worry about is a considerable performance drop going with ALI versus more established chipsets from Nvidia or VIA. Also I'm looking for any opinions or claims people have about the mobo.

There is little if any difference what Motherboard make you got as memory controller is on CPU chip it self so speed wise there is hardly any difference ~1%.
only options , stability , price , overclockability ect ect that makes them different.

I would be hesitant of the combo board. First of all I don't know anyone with the Ali chipset for A64, and secondly the board layout looks like a frankenstein monster.
I would sooner recommend you pick a cheap S754 board and CPU than the combo.
