Yeah I did. It was a while ago and I've reformatted my system since. I have no intention of trying the demo again. I'll just stick to the regular PK for now.

*edit* update: the difference between these two screenshots is not due to SM 3.0 because i still get the same effect if i force pixel/vertex shaders to 2.0 or if i install non DirectX 9.0c video drivers(61.76)

I loaded up some Painkiller levels with my card running in SM 3.0 mode and then in SM 2.0 mode(forced by RivaTuner) just to see what difference there was between the two Shader paths FPS wise, here's the differences i got:
Atrium SM 2.0: 127 fps
Atrium SM 3.0: 127 fps
Catacombs SM 2.0: 137 fps
Catacombs SM 3.0: 137 fps
Cathedral SM 2.0: 117 fps
Cathedral SM 3.0: 117 fps
Opera House SM 2.0: 113 fps
Opera House SM 3.0: 113 fps
Asylum SM 2.0: 71 fps
Asylum SM 3.0: 71 fps
Snowy Bridge SM 2.0: 108 fps
Snowy Bridge SM 3.0: 108 fps
Town SM 2.0: 85 fps
Town SM 3.0: 89 fps
Trainstation SM 2.0: 137 fps
Trainstation SM 3.0: 144 fps
Military Base SM 2.0: 140 fps
Military Base SM 3.0: 149 fps
Castle SM 2.0: 74 fps
Castle SM 3.0: 78 fps
City on the Water SM 2.0: 91 fps
City on the Water SM 3.0: 96 fps
Docks SM 2.0: 100 fps
Docks SM 3.0: 105 fps
SM 3.0 certainly speeds up the game in some areas

I'm curious, are these BOOH levels or from the original Painkiller campaign? I'd be interested to see the difference in BOOH levels, since that is where it appears most of the sm3.0 would be put to use.

All those levels are from the Single Player of the original Painkiller, i've just done the same thing with BooH:
Orphanage SM 2.0: 41 fps
Orphanage SM 3.0: 41 fps
Looney Park SM 2.0: 55 fps
Looney Park SM 3.0: 56 fps
Lab SM 2.0: 65 fps
Lab SM 3.0: 67 fps
Dead City SM 2.0: 65 fps
Dead City SM 3.0: 67 fps
Leningrad SM 2.0: 72 fps
Leningrad SM 3.0: 72 fps
Colloseum SM 2.0: 85 fps
Colloseum SM 3.0: 86 fps
Underworld SM 2.0: 96 fps
Underworld SM 3.0: 104 fps
Stone Pit SM 2.0: 82 fps
Stone Pit SM 3.0: 85 fps
Shadowland SM 2.0: 39 fps
Shadowland SM 3.0: 39 fps
Well that's all the level there are except for the one i haven't unlocked, not the bigger differences i saw with some of the levels in Painkiller except for Underworld.
ps, the game is Direct3D as far as i know
