If we're solely takling sm1.1 ; extra cpu power = nice
When it comes to sm3.0 HDR effects ; the game is very GPU dependant, rather than cpu.

Seeing, you have a 6600GT I'd recommend playing this demo without HDR.

Well i played the demo with my 6600gt with HDR and it played pretty good, SC just is not my type of game now i had an issue with the game sam fisher seemed to have a jitter all other npc's where ok except for sam himself, the game looks good but before a make any judgements on HDR i'll wait till valve releases it on HL2, it's always good to see if another company can implemented a technic more efficiently, i've never been a fan of ubi soft they can rush a lot of crap out the door without optimizing and getting all bugs fix

Ubi rushing out alot of crap ? C'mon... SCCT HDR is sm3.0 built up from scratch.

Both Far Cry and soon HL2 will have HDR yes, but it's tacked on code.
SCCT is the 1st as a true sm3.0 game, soon Age of Empires 3 adds to that list.

* about the artefacts ; the demo and Forceware 75.90 don't go well together. I dunno if you're using 75.90.....

I'm on 67.66 without any problems.

From a few numbers I've seen HDR isn't much playable on a GF6800U either.Lets hope next gen cards adress this problem.

Depends on what you would consider playable. For a slow paced game like this, 30 fps is very playable.

first this isn't sm3.0 from scratch like you say, this is the unreal engine http://www.fragland.net/specials.php?page=2&id=73 with a tacked on code as well, and we all know how cpu hungry the unreal engine is, the only engine that i have heard that will be a true sm3.0 engine is unreal3 engine, once games come out using that engine then we can judge how good or bad sm3.0's performance is, for now all games using HDR doesn't make them a true 3.0 it's just 2.0 with some sugar coating on it.

the drivers i was using where also 67.66, i guess i might have to reinstall the game and see whats going on

Yeah, i had everthing on except HDR, AA was 4x and AF was 8x.
