Default New Kernel: 2.6.11.1

I haven't used Linux since 2003 (my registration date), but I'm getting back into it and using Fedora Core 3.

I've had soooo many problems with the 6629 drivers but I've read a dozen threads here (including stickies) so tomorrow I'll reinstall and try again using the cumulative and makedevices patch (and reading instructions).

Anyways, a new kernel was just released @ Kernel.org with a small changelog that should have no impact on the 6629 driver:

[PATCH] trivial fix for 2.6.11 raid6 compilation on ppc w/ Altivec

[PATCH] Fix for trivial fix for 2.6.11 raid6 compilation on ppc w/ Altivec

Here's a patch that will work for both PPC and PPC64. The proper way to
fix this in mainline is to merge -mm's cpu_has_feature patch, but for
the stable 2.6.11-series, this much less intrusive (i.e. just the pure
bugfix, not the cleanup part).

[PATCH] Fix keyboards for Dell machines

Some ACPI-related changes were recently made to i8042 discovery for ia64.
Unfortunately this broke a significant number of Dell laptops due to their
having incorrect BIOS tables.

So, for now, arrange for the new code to be ia64-only.

If you have a Dell Inspiron 2650 or a laptop with an Geforce 2 Go video card, you should stick with the Xorg nv driver. It is not accelerated, but it works.

Default Re: New Kernel: 2.6.11.1

with xorg `nv` driver the only resolution i get is about 640x480 or less (hard to tell),

so I had to use "vesa" instead.

Gentoo's patches to the nvidia installer didn't help either:

Code:
