6629+ and HP Compaq nx9105

For some time now I have tried to upgrade from 6111 but every time it ends up with the same result. That's not having picture all across the screen. Please see attached picture.

Last try involved the following software:
Linux 2.6.11
Latest driver (7167)
Xorg 6.8.2(-2 Ubuntu Hoary)

And the following hardware:
HP Compaq nx9105
nVidia Corporation NV17 [Geforce4 420 Go 32Mb] (rev a3)

Anyone that has any suggestions?

I managed to get the picture to strech out but the x server hangs when trying to start gnome. The thing I did was to add -HSync -VSync to my modeline that didn't have these and also add "IgnoreEDID" "true". Hope that can be of some use to you...
