Default Filesystem corruption

Hi all, after upgrade the NVidia driver to 71.67 , when X start i get a black screen and hard lock, that require hard reset. When system restart, i'm getting filesystem corruption (this time was module database and apt-get databases, an some home files).

My system :
* Debian Sid
* Kernel 2.6.10
* NVidia installer : NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-7167-pkg1.run
* XFS Filesystem
* Gcc 3.3.4
* NVidia GForce2 64Mb APG

I try 6110, and same thing. Drivers < 6110 works fine
any ideas?

Thx

You're most likely getting corruption from the hardlock and having to power it off manually. The disks aren't getting umounted.

Does it get a chance to give you an error log before hardlocking?

If <6110 is working for you, I'd stick with that. I'm not positive, but I think you're not going to see many changes improvement/development-wise for GeForce2.

I've used ReiserFS 3.6 for almost a year now, and suffered nvidia.ko endless inexplicable lockups for just as long. My FS never had even a single hiccup in all that time, so this would be my recommendation to you: use ReiserFS.

My ReiserFS got all messed up once, to the point where --rebuild-sb and --rebuild-tree would no longer work. This was with the 1.0-6629 before the patches came out. Nowadays if I get a hardlock I switch back to the working driver as soon as possible to avoid all the hassle.
