Question Asus FX5700 and temperature monitor

Hi guys,
this is my first post here. I read a lot of posts about this subject but i can't believe that is impossible to read the gpu temperature under linux. So the output of "nvidia-settings -q GPUCoreTemp" is

WARNING: Error querying attribute 'GPUCoreTemp' specified in query 'GPUCoreTemp'; 'GPUCoreTemp' is not available on Nautilus:0.0.
So i guess my card hasn't a termal sensor bulit in. Am I right? Is there another way to read the temperature under linux? Asus provide a tool called smart doctor that is able to read fan speed and gpu temperature but is for windows. Have a nice day
