Question 6600 GT & CIOverlay

We have some old legacy software that needs to have an 8bit
pseudo-colour visual. I got this to work on one machine by
setting CIOverlay to true and everything was fine (I can't remember
which NV card it has in it).

We now get some 6600GT's, I do the same thing (and can check with
diff that the xorg.conf files are virtually identical) but with no luck!
If I look in Xorg.log I can see that both machine pick up the option (i.e. it says (**) by the line), but only the one with the unknown card does it say that the CIOverlay has been installed OK (and it says (II) in the log).

Both machines are running FC3.

The README file seems to indicate that there are no know card restriction.

Anyone know what's up?
