Default CS:S Shaking problem (looked for solutions, didnt find any)

Just got this from my friend and every game, in spec mode or 1st person the game screen locks up and starts shaking, but its JUST the video.. I can still press esc and bring up all the menu's and they dont shake, but the background still does.... and while downloading some maps the downloader gets stuck on certain .wav files and just looks like it keeps downloading the same thing over and over again but does nothing at all, so I need to press esc again and disconnect.

This a network problem? I disabled my firewall and still got the same thing, havent tried any router settings though.. and it seems like it could NOT be a system problem, the game runs smooth except for the lockups (which happen so much I cant really get through a round anyway heh)

specs:
p4 3.0e @ 3.150
bfg 6800gt oc
2x512 corsair xms not OC
p4c800e deluxe mobo
160gb seagate SATA HD
SB Audigy 2 ZS 7.1 Gamer

quirky stuff like that is due to an OC'ed processor, gfx card, etc.

I have read MANY cases on steam forums, etc where OCing was the cause.

A small OC can still do that even if its not over heating? because ive logged temps and it goes higher playing D3.... Ill try to set the CPU back to stock speeds and check it out, that is all that I OC'd

You would only get quirky stuff happening if your system wasn't stable and producing correct results at the overclocked speed.

Try testing you system with Prime95 and mem86 to make sure it checks out.

I turned it back to stock speeds and still got the same problem...

I did memtest a few weeks ago and it was fine, so I dont think thats the problem. and it only happens with CS:S, can play any other game just fine for hours and never a problem.

ill do a p95 check though and get back on that.

stupid game, I wanna play CS!

p95 test showed no errors or warnings, let it run for about 45 min I guess.

I guess I should add in that when the game locks up, I can still mouse look too, but it just shakes, I cant walk around or shoot or change weps, but I can mouse look, and everyone else is frozen to me and the screen just vibrates. So its not really a real 'lock up' its just some strange thing that I cant find anyone else who has the same problem.... ohh why meeeee why meeeee

man, still cant fix this problem, sometimes it plays fine for a while then just freezes up like explained above, sometimes it starts off slow and shakes for a bit on and off then freezes and makes one of those windows bleep errors and closes the game wtf.
