I Have the Kernel 2.6.9-1.6 recompiled without riva module (as asked by the installer).
And version 1.0-6629 of NVIdia Drivers. But X often crashes when I exit from X to Text mode (hanging the kernel). I've searched the forum and I found many people reporting a similar problem but I didn't find any working solution. What can I do? Thank you Kirys |

I have the same problem.
I have SuSe Linux 9.2 Professional x86_64 with kernel 2.6.8-24.13-default running on an Athlon 64 machine with nVidia FX5500, and X.org. Whenever I exit X windows, it crashes - the display gets garbled with lots of orange blocks. Even if I type Ctrl + alt + F2, etc, the other TTYs also show a blank screen. But if I type something, the machine responds. Ofcourse, the only thing I can type is init 6 ![]() Does anyone know what causes this problem and how to fix it? Thanks. |
