Exclamation Fan control for ASUS V9999 available

Hi guys,

I've been writing a library to control the fan on my ASUS V9999GT, I've put the source up and it should work with all V9999's and probably some older cards as well.

It is only an early alpha of the code but the command line utility provided with it can set the fan speed or put the card into automatic temperature controlled mode. Very useful .

Anyway, its here at http://www.consultmatt.co.uk/asusfan/.

Hope you enjoy,

Matt

Now I wish you could get this to work with other monitoring chips on 6800GT/U cards....

This code is based on nvclock. This piece of code mainly supports the f75375 chip used on asus cards, nvclock itself will support more chips.

Yep, the main part of this is nvclock code and I know thudnerbird plans to support a lot of other chips in the end. Keep your eye on it and I'm sure it'll appear...

Thunderbird, would you want access to my machine to figure out an interface to the monitoring chip on my card? I can tell you the chips name and stuff of course, get the numbers etc, anything I can do to try and help. Since my card is reference I would assume this chip is on many other cards as well. I guess Asus ones are the rare batch.

I know thunderbird's been getting a long way with the monitoring inbuilt to nvidia cores. Also some cards use a different monitoring chip which he's been working on as well.

I know I appreciate thunderbird's work as well.. but one has to ask... won't the vendors help out a bit?? Are they all proprietary and that different from each other? Always seemed that many Nvidia card suppliers were minor variations of the reference design from Nvidia. Maybe I'm wrong??

All sensor chips are connected to the i2c bus of the gpu. Most GeforceFX/Geforce6 boards ship with a LM99 compatible chip which only provides temperature monitoring. Boards from asus ship with a f75375 chip which also provides fan and voltage monitoring capabilities and it can also control the fans. Besides this chip there are also other chips. I think msi/leadtek cards ship with some winbond chip and perhaps gainward cards too. Currently I will only support the first two types of chips as I don't have access to more. If you want your chip to be supported too, contact me but note that you need programming experience. (adding chips is VERY easy)
