Default problem configuring X for mepis

i'm having some problems configuring the xf86config-4 file to work... the driver is already installed, but i need to configure X. whenever i change driver "vesa" to driver "nvidia" (like it says to in nvidia's readme) it messes up X and i have to fix it from the text-mode. anyone know what's wrong? i did everything else it told me to do...

run "nvidia-bug-report.sh" after X failed with nvidia's driver and post the created file here...

Well...
first change vesa to nvidia, then start x and let if crash, now you've to run "nvidia-bug-report.sh" in the terminal (as root), then you can change nvidia back to vesa and post the created log here...

Code:
cd /. ; find -iname nvidia-bug-report.log
EDIT:

Either press "Go Advance" or "Edit your post once again" and scroll down a bit and look for "Attach Files" -> "Manage Attachments"... there you can upload the file...

(Don't forget to change the file extension from .log to .txt!)

OK...
(try this in a virtual terminal):
login as root...
Code:
modprobe agpgart
modprobe intel_agp
modprobe nvidia
now try startx ...

(if it works... open /etc/modules or in /etc/modules.preload and put this at the end
Code:
agpgart
intel_agp
nvidia
