We have a Qudro4 900 XGL and quad-buffered stereo mode does work under Linux, although there is a little bit of jitter.

Note that it will only work if you do not have TwinView turned on...

I'm not sure why there is that limitation.

The latest NVidia Linux drivers for Quadro4 support all stereo modes of the Windows driver, including clone mode stereo. There appears to be a glitch found in Windows drivers that is carrying over to Linux drivers.

Under Windows, mono mode for some stereo applications is really slow. When the display option is switched to stereo in the app, the speed is fine. There may also be a related problem with image instability in stereo mode. A horizontal shearing occurs at regular intervals when eye separation is greater than zero. Kind of wierd (6 shear events about 2 seconds apart and then 12 seconds of clean image...this may depend on refresh rate...we use 120 for shutter glasses). This causes problems with shutter glasses that sense vertical refresh intervals to switch.

Hopefully, NVidia and card manufacturers will reproduce the problem and fix it.
