Exclamation Fedora Core 2 + 2 NVidiaQuadro FX 600 PCI cards != Four Headed Beast?

Hello -

I have a Fedora Core 2 system with 2 NVidiaQuadro FX 600 PCI cards installed. Our goal is to make a Four Headed Beast out of this. We can get two heads to work (from one of the cards) but can't get the second card to work. When the driver is loaded, it gives the error:

nvidia: probe of 0000:01:06.0 failed with error -1
NVRM: the NVIDIA probe routine was not called for 1 device(s)!!
NVRM: loading NVIDIA Linux x86_64 NVIDIA Kernel Module 1.0-6629 Wed Nov 3 11:43:48 PST 2004

I've tried moving one of the cards to a different PCI slot (note the different BusID
from what lspci reports), but I just get the same error with a different slot number
(0000:02:07.0).

Is it possible to make a Four Headed Beast on a Linux system (how about any
other Unix/Unix-like OS)? Or will only Windows support four heads at this point?
For many reasons, we really would prefer to run Linux or another Unix-like OS.

If it should work for Linux, please help me to determine what I'm doing wrong
(perhaps I just need to do battle with my xorg.conf file until I win :-).

See the attached nvidia-bug-report.log file (as nvidia-bug-report.log.txt).

Thanks for any help,
Debbie

PS From reading the forum, I found and installed both patch
NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-6629-1175225.diff.txt and patch
NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-6629-1155389.diff.txt, but they didn't help.

FWIW We just loaded Red Hat EL3 and continue to have the same problems with
the same errors when the nvidia driver is loaded.

Help!!!

It looks like you're seeing a variation of the problem discussed in this thread: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=41903.

Thanks for the pointer. I had read that thread but since it was only a single card,
didn't think it applied (obviously I didn't know the specs on that one).

Anyway, I' m now in contact with Darren but since NVidia and Tyan aren't communicating
with each other yet, we're both stalled. FWIW For us this is not only holding up the use
of our system, but of purchase of two more Quadro FX 600 PCI cards for another identical
system.

Thanks again for the help,
Debbie
