well first of all it has more than 2 channels, so that alone should be noticeable.

SACD is 96Khz compared to 44.1. Might be 24-bit too, I can't remember. Basically, it sounds a lot clearer than a CD. Like on a Glenn Gould CD, you can hear him hum, hear him shift around on the piano bench, hear that one string where the piano isn't tuned just quite right.

There ya go.

Some of them are 5.1 channel, not all.

more than two channels, higher resolution and bitrate, less filters used to play back, and doesn't have the noticable encoding errors PCM does...yeah...I know all that <g>
