Default Xid error causes by temperature 77C !? (solved by fan!)

There is many Xid errors but as none of the symptoms I read seems to be same, I start new thread...

- on 6629 driver, playing games (WoW) causes screen to "jump" when temperature of card reach ~77-78C. It is associated with line in /var/log/messages:

Apr 30 07:16:10 axp NVRM: Xid: 23, L1 -> L0
Apr 30 07:16:10 axp NVRM: Xid: 6, PE0002 1710 80000000 00295938 00000000 000000d4

If I don't stop game will crashed within minutes as these erros become more and more frequent.

- on 7174 driver, at same temperature, i loose display, X is uniform color. Game is fine, X also. I can swicth workspace and everything is fine. I can quit game if click correctly. Error associated is :

Apr 30 11:03:21 axp NVRM: Xid: 23, L1 -> L0
Apr 30 11:03:21 axp NVRM: Xid: 6, PE0003 180c 02570256 0068fb38 00000000 000000d4

BUT in both cases, adding an extra fan blowing directly on card to keep temperature down, keeping temperature at ~74C solves it !!! But 77 is not "hot" per se. This is way below high limit of normal functionning.

Idle temperature is ok (54C). So probably not a sensor bug either.

So now I wonder, is this Xid pb a driver bug ? or a card design flaw ??!!
