Default 1.0-7174 hotplug issues

I'm currently running RHEL ver 3.0, with the 2.6.6 kernel. I have a Geforce 6800 PCI-Express video card, and have been running with nvidia drivers 1.0-6629 for several months now, without any issues.

After updating the nvidia driver to 1.0-7174, I am no longer able to run X. When I execute startx from the command prompt, I get the following X output:

(EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to load the NVIDIA kernel module!
(EE) NVIDIA(0): *** Aborting ***

This also appears in /var/log/messages:

May 2 17:50:45 vandam /sbin/hotplug: no runnable /etc/hotplug/vc.agent is installed

May 2 17:50:45 vandam /sbin/hotplug: no runnable /etc/hotplug/nvidia.agent is installed
May 2 17:50:46 vandam /sbin/hotplug: no runnable /etc/hotplug/vc.agent is installed

I am unable to find vc.agent or nvidia.agent anywhere on my system, or in the driver package.

Anyone know what's going on here??
