IntelInside, you are wrong about the X850XT PE; you will be able to use it in AMR down the road. If you read a little and did not spout gospel, you would know that ATI will debut multi-GPU MB's and features at this years Computex. Interestingly, it will allow a next gen ATI part to be coupled with last gen X850, for instance (it will basically default to the lowest common denominator). Consider this, the X850XT PE crushes the 6800GT. In tandem it will do the same .

However, before any Nvidia/ATI fanboyz start chest thumping about my part is better than your part, why not wait until Computex and see what is available. As an aside, personally, I am more interested in PS3 than XBox360, but I plan on getting both. I have had Nvidia and ATI parts. I will give my money next gen to the one with the best feature set and speed. BTW, NV40 you are also wrong. ATI drivers are much better now, and they at least attempt to update their official drivers more than three times a year. This forum is starting to sound like the Republicans vs the Democrats. It is definitely fun to watch. Peace.

Assuming AMR is as good as NVIDIA's SLI. What I mean is, no one knows how efficient ATI's method will be compared to NVIDIA's method.

Down side is that AMR will be less efficient and R5x0 + R4x0 won't be as good as two 6800Us in SLI.

Middle ground is that they will be equal (win some lose some, but even number on each side).

Up side is that AMR might be more efficient than NVIDIA's SLI and R5x0 + R4x0 will be better than two 6800Us in SLI.

One thing to consider here is that NVIDIA has had a lot longer to work on their SLI now. G70 might very well have a better hardware implementation (more efficient in all or some respects).

If that is true, two 6800Us in SLI might be beat by an R5x0 + R4x0, but R5x0 + R5x0 might be beat by G70 + G70 in SLI (even assuming G70 and R5x0 are the same speed as each other in single card use).

I guess my real point is that you can't assume anything right now. NVIDIA has a big lead on ATI in terms of design and tweak time (NVIDIA has the lead with their Dual Graphics Card Solution and with SM3.0 (leading with SM3.0 is significant because NVIDIA has had all this time to come up with a better solution. Same could be said for ATI since they have waited, but generally Version 2 of anything is better than Version 1 and ATI has no Version 1 yet)).

Question How many Memory Bandwidth ?

Anybody knows how many memory bandwidth will deliver the next nVidia card models ?

If it's lower than 56GB/s +-, i'll be very disappointed.

Core speed is very important, but, I need more memory bandwidth to play with high framerates in ultra high resolutions with FSAA & AF.

I've tested both 6800U & X800XT models with memory running around 1.1 - 1.2 GHz, & it isn't enough for my personal needs.

I think that i'll need memory running at 1.7 - 1.8 GHz at least.

Of course, i always can buy 2 cards & run them in SLI with AFR, to 'double' the framerate in apps that aren't core speed limited. But, if prefer to use SLI later, when i'll need even more gfx power & not since the beginning.

I read the same GTX spec at Beyond3D forum and it the exactly same information. The bad news is PS3 wont be out until 2006 and the good news is that you dont have to wait for 1 year to get it because G70 shared same features or technology in RSX chip found in PS3.

I am quite surprised that Nvidia somehow managed made Geforce 7800 GTX twice faster than 6800 Ultra with only 5MHz increased and extra 8 pipelines? I think Geforce 7800 will have full of surprises in store wating for us to see soon.

it's all about the pixel pipleines rather what was changed from NV4X for each pixel pipeline in the quad processing block

Hm, just noticed soemthing disturbing. They dont mention the video ram in the spec bullet list, but itson the box. Also its 256mb, i really feel they will all be 512mb but I could be crazy! I would think they would add the ram as a 'product feature bullet' thats how they sell tons of the fx 5200 256mb ...

RSX (PS3) = 2x 6800Ultra (= 16+16 pipelines)
G70/G80 = 32 pipelines? (or 70 / 80 Pipelines?? LOL )

Memory bandwidth is disappointing. I could use more since I play in very high resolutions.

Yeah I am pretty sure Geforce 7800 GTX will be full of surprises, I remember a year back in Nvidia interview about 6800 Ultra with the original clocking speed of 400MHz reduced from 475MHz on engineering sample, someone asked Nvidia why the speed reduced and they said that NV40 is far too good, here no point to increased the speed, Nvidia is far more than happy with it. I think the same thing goes with GTX 7800 GTX with extra 8 pipelines. I knew Geforce 6800 Ultra have calculation power of 40 GFLOPs and RSX at 550MHz on 0.09nm process have massive calculation power of 1.8TFLOPs, I think Geforce 7800 will incorporated that same technology so let see Geforce 7800 GTX at 430MHz on 0.11nm probably will have around 1.6TFLOPs calculation power.
