Default Xbox 360: Upright or flat?

I was talking to a friend about the Xbox 360 and she brought up that all the pics she has seen showed it standing upright. I hadn't realized that but after checking a few, they all seem to show it standing up. I'm assuming it'll actually be used laying down (flat), right, so it'll fit in a normal entertainment center cabinet, etc. It looks like it might have feet for laying down. So, why are all the pics showing it standing upright?

It can be used both ways.

I forget where I saw it but at E3 there were pics of a ton of them sitting flat. Upright is just "in style" now.

Here is a video describing and demonstrating it can be used both ways:

Dang, I thought I was in the console forum. Sorry about that. Now you can see why I don't start many threads.

Edit: Someone please move this.

I would prefer it to be flat like a DVD player .. and it would be great it you could put stuff (e.g. your DVD player, amplifier etc) on top..

so it fits properly into a home cinema system..

Would be pretty funny if the 360 is placed neither upright nor flat but diagonally and the thing breaks.

I will have mind upright, next to the PS2. The Gamecube will then be moved next to teh Dreamcast.

You probably can

Get a face plate to match colors, throw the other stuff on top. As long as the thing on top isn't too heavy, it should be easy to do. With it being watercooled, you shouldn't have to worry about airflow too horribly as long as you leave room in the back. The X360 will have a much flatter top than the old Xbox, which is nice
