More clarification on this from nvidia would be helpful (eg are they open to bug reports for problems with consumer boards?).

Alan said on his blog that he got the drivers to work with his consumer board (GeForce 4 4400 Go) but that he had to do a little fiddling to get it to work. I'm going to wait for his tips before trying the drivers with my GeForce FX 5900.

Same here. Ti 4200 won't work (as expected) and /etc/driver_aliases obviously needs to be tweaked as it only has the Quadro cards aliased. Someday I hope I can learn how to derive the options for this file

While only Quadro cards are officially supported, it's not terribly difficult to get non-Quadro cards working. They have already said that bugs for *any* card can be posted here on this forum, their customers' issues receive priority.

Anyway, you can my message here for some hints and tips on how to do it:

All you need is the pci device id of your video card. If you look on that mailing list of the message I linked to, you'll find others there who have posted other solutions and some device IDs and where to look them up.
