# /sbin/lspci | grep -i nvid

# nvidia-settings

(nvidia-settings:5261): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid cast from (NULL) pointer to `GtkWindow'

(nvidia-settings:5261): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid cast from (NULL) pointer to `GtkWindow'
nvidia-settings runs ok with these warnings.

however... click on Clock Frequencies -> "Enable Overclocking" and nvidia-settings crashes:

Code:
nvidia-settings: relocation error: nvidia-settings: undefined symbol: gtk_window_get_screen
and yes, before anyone asks, i do have

Code:
Option "Coolbits" "1"
in the "Device" section. so thats not the problem.

There must be something wrong with your gtk libraries as errors like this normally shouldn't happen. Perhaps updating your gtk libraries fixes the issue.

bani,
Can you attach an nvidia-bug-report.log? Also, which version(s) of gtk do you have installed?

thanks,
Lonni

version of gtk is 2.0, exactly as it says in the ldd output. (specifically it is gtk 2.0.5)

and arokh you guessed wrong. it's not gentoo.

Gtk 2.0 is quite old these days, it might be that nvidia-settings was linked against 2.2. You could upgrade your gtk or you can try to build nvidia-settings from source (available from ftp://download.nvidia.com)
