Default [Patch] NVnet 0301 x86-64 compile error with 2.6.11-mm and 2.6.12-rc1

Hi all,

nvnet won't compile with the latest prerelease kernels on x86-64 - and quite possibly on normal x86 too. I've attached a patch for the x86-64 driver version 0301. Apply it + install by doing:

sh NFORCE-blahblah.pkg.run -x
cd NFORCE-blahblah
patch -p1 < ../nvnet-0301-x86_64.patch
./nvidia-installer

The problem is caused by slot_name no longer being a part of the pci_dev struct in recent kernels. You have to use the pci_name() function instead.

Hope this helps someone out.

- Alistair

Thanx, works nicely here on x86 with 2.6.12-rc1-bk1.

Have you noticed any improvement of nvnet vs forcedeth? My nforce2 doesn't support hw offloading, so I guess the improvement is minor.

I just wanted to say I stumbled upon this and was very happy to find it. nvnet compiles and is in use w/o issue now. Thanks.

The next NFORCE web driver release will include native support for the newer 2.6.x kernels.

Thanks,

Thanks, Alistair! You saved me a good bit of time. I just installed today, ran into the problem, searched here and lo and behold! Thanks, again.

Hi, Lonni

I don't mean to be pushy, your post is marked 12/04, Alistair's patch is from 3/05 and I'm posting in August ('05) ... any chance somebody at Nvidia could take Alistair's patch and incoporate it into the drivers.

I do really mean it when I say I'm not trying to be pushy. I'm sure you guys have been busy as hell trying keeping up with the nForce4 advances and the SLI board releases (and PCIE in general, for that matter). So, it would just be appreciated if the Linux drivers (graphics included) got a little attention.

Thanks, in advance for any time you can afford us.
